May
2010: KENNY HACHEY
May's Jr. Duck of the Month is Kenny Hachey. Kenny is one of the hardest working players on the Ducks this season. His no quit attitude helped lead
the team to the AIHL Pacific West division title. Counted on to kill penalties and play power play, Kenny was used in all situations. Very similar to
his favorite Ducks' player Saku Koivu; a very hard working, penalty kill player and team leader.
A very humble and quiet young man Kenny is a great example of the young men playing on the Jr Ducks team this season. We are lucky to have him part of the program.
Congratulations Kenny!
APRIL
2010: ETHAN FLORES
Corona Inline's Jr. Duck of the Month for April is Ethan Flores. Ethan is described by his coaches as one of the most improved players over the course of the season, scoring big goals for his peewee team. He is the teams number one penalty killer, scoring two short handed goals last tournament. A quiet kid around the rink and on the floor Ethan is hard to read at times but no questioning his work ethic and desire to play hockey. One of his favorite memories (according to Ethan) was the Give Blood Play Hockey tournament, not only because it was a good cause, but because of all the great friends he got the opportunity to play with, and it didn't hurt that they came in first place. He chooses to play roller hockey and not another sport because of it's pace and that you are always in the game and get lots of playing time. He strives to be a great all around player, like his favorite Duck Ryan Getzlaf. Ethan is a great leader and his coaches will be counting on him in big situations for the remainder of the season.
Congratulations Ethan!
March
2010: SHANE VIDGER
Corona Inline's Jr. Duck of the month for March is Shane Vidger. Shane has only been playing roller hockey at a competitive level for a short time but he comes at it in a BIG way. He is currently a member of our 10U Mite team. It's been said by his coach that he's a strong defensive player and a leader by example among his teammates. Shane is a member of the team that won the 2009 Essay contest and got to skate on the ice with the Ducks. Shane says that memory is very special; hearing everyone clapping and cheering, the huge scoreboard overhead, then seeing the Ducks already out on the ice waiting for us it felt like Christmas day. His favorite Ducks player is James Wisniewski because he has a good slapshot. We are all looking forward to seeing Shane's slapshot in upcoming tournaments.
Congratulations Shane!
February
2010: CASEY LOGGINS
Corona Inline's Jr. Duck of the Month for February is Casey Loggins. Casey is a member of the Reebok Jr. Ducks Bantam White team, coached by Chris Connole. He's been playing hockey for 10 years and in that time has played on various teams with the Anaheim Bulldogs and now the Jr. Ducks. His favorite hockey memory is when he was first starting out in the sport playing at the rink in Brea on the laminated wood floors. He has great respect for Ducks player Teemu Selanne because he is a great forward and always keeps his head in the game. We could say the same about Casey.....in his last tournament he led the Bantam White team to some big victories and was awarded the "top score" title at Narch Winternationals. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations Casey!
January
2010: AMBER WILLIS
Amber currently plays as goaltender on the Reebok Jr. Ducks 18U team coached by Mishka Drury. She has been playing hockey for 14 years both skating out and in net. She says she has many favorite hockey moments but one that stands out is her first shutout that took place during the playoffs of her very first season. That should have been a good indication of great things to come from Amber. She has received top goalie honors in two tournaments already this season and her teams won Gold in the AAU Winternationals tournament. Her favorite Ducks player is Jonas Hiller......I knew we've seen that famous "butterfly" somewhere else. Great job Amber, we are very proud to have you as Corona Inline's Jr. Duck of the month for January.
Congratulations Amber!
December
2009: PORTER BARTRAM
Porter is the goalie for the Reebok Jr. Duck mite team. He's only been playing hockey for about a year, and was anxiously awaiting his first tournament where we would get to play 4 games in one day. Little did he know that he would actually play 8 games as he also willingly filled in for the Reebok Jr. Ducks Squirt Black team in net. He did a phenomenal job not only in his division, but also took the squirt team to the championship game. Porter says that is his greatest hockey memory so far, but we are all sure he will have many more like that. It's no doubt he learned some of those great goalie moves and awesome saves from watching his favorite player, Jonas Hiller. We are very happy to have Porter as a part of the Jr. Duck family and are proud to congratulate him as December's Jr. Duck of the month.
Congratulations Porter!
November
2009: AUSTIN DE LOS REYES
Austin De Los Reyes (better known as "Boston" around the rink) is our Reebok Jr. Duck of the month for November. Austin is a member of the 8U Atom team
again this year. His proudest moment was when his Atom team won the AAU National Championship last July in Feasterville, Pennsylvania. He plays
forward and says he really likes to skate and pass. No doubt, something he learns while watching his favorite Ducks player, Teemu Selanne. He was
nominated for his team first approach, 100% effort during games and practices and great attitude around the rink. We are very proud to congratulate
"Boston" on being Corona Inline's Reebok Jr. Duck of the month for November!
Congratulations Austin!
October 2009: ELISA POGU
Elisa plays at Corona Inline and is a member of current in-house rec teams, Santiago High School team, Women's league teams and was just named to the Reebok Jr. Ducks Bantam '93 team where she proudly wears #40. She is primarily a defensive player but her favorite game memory is one where she took on an offensive role scoring a top shelf goal by taking a slap shot......very impressive since she just learned the skill.
Congratulations Elisa!
